Films for all in Highland Perthshire

Heartland Film Society presents a season of monthly films from September to July, at the Birks Cinema, Aberfeldy. Full details of dates and timings are confirmed in the Birks Cinema programme and you can view the list of films in the What's On page.

You don't need to be a member to come to any of the HFS films - the films are open to everyone - but membership does help to support both the film society and the Birks Cinema.

Films are normally screened at the state-of-the art Birks Cinema. Once a month, usually on a Sunday evening, we present a film chosen from the best of world cinema, both recent releases and classics. There’s an additional screening at the February AGM and a full weekend of films and events at our annual Aberfeldy Film Festival in November. Now and again, when a particularly interesting film crops up, we add it to the programme. You may also be treated to something extra on occasion - short films from the winners of the annual Palme-Dewar competition,  question and answer sessions with film-makers, and live music to accompany films.

We are very grateful for the support of the Birks Cinema management and staff. The generous discount which they offer at the box office to members attending any HFS film is currently £1.50 off the ticket price.

Membership costs just £10.00 for 12 months from your date of joining, so it’s well worth joining or re-joining at any time to take advantage of the discounts. Other membership benefits include email programme updates and free access to the extensive DVD library of films we’ve shown previously. If you miss a film, you can catch up at home.

Without additional support and funding from outside sources, such as the Griffin Fund, Dewar’s Aberfeldy Distillery, Regional Screen Scotland and Film Hub Scotland, we would be unable to present such a wide-ranging programme of films.  To obtain this funding we need a sound membership base. Please do join HFS and help bring outstanding international films to audiences coming from Aberfeldy and beyond.
