(1937, U, 81 mins) Dir. Michael Powell; Cast: John Laurie, Finlay Currie A way of life is dying in a Shetland island fishing port, but some of the inhabitants resist evacuating to the mainland. Story inspired by the evacuation of the island of Hirta, St Kilda and filmed on Foula, Shetland.
21.00 Return to the Edge of the World
(1978, 85 mins) Dir. Michael Powell; Cast: John Laurie A re-release of Michael Powell’s ‘The Edge of the World’ (1937) with colour ‘bookends’ in which director and actors revisit the island of Foula forty years later and talk about their experiences.

(2011, 15, 104 mins) Dir. Billy Morrissette; Cast: James LeGros, Maura Tierney, Christopher Walken Black comedy version of Shakespeare’s Macbeth, set in 1970s suburban Pennsylvania. A hamburger restaurant is willed to a scheming couple, the McBeths, by their former boss Mr. Duncan. [entry to this particular film will be ticketed but based on donations rather than an entry charge - suggested donation £5]

About the Festival
Heartland Film Society organises the Aberfeldy Film Festival - normally over one weekend in November. The 2012 film festival will be held on 16-18 November and mostly at the Aberfeldy Town Hall. The finalists in the Palme Dewar Shorts Competition are judged during the festival and the shortlisted films are also viewed by the public at Dewar’s Distillery Aberfeldy late on the Saturday afternoon (17th November) - before the overall winner is announced shortly afterwards.
